I used this as the background in Unit 5.

The background for this page is a full screen gradient.

This image on the left began as two black and white bitmap clip art images. I copied them to one file and saved it as a RGB psd file to work with and transform into color.

I created a new layer over the black and white and painted in the color layer. Then I crated a new layer under the black and filled it with a gradient. I used the drop shadow, inner glow and bevel and emboss effects on the colored images. When I saved the image as a GIF file with no dither the colors changed to flat rings.
